A Letter From My Brother (J.Sprinkles)

As it turns out, holidays aren't so "holy" anymore. However, my favorite holiday of all is Thanksgiving. Ironically, it isn't my favorite because I get to gorge myself in front of the television. I do that all the time. It isn't my favorite because I pause and give thanks for the many blessings in my life. I do that daily. I love Thanksgiving because it is the one holiday that is what it is. There isn't any false pretense about a guy in a suit, a buck-toothed bunny, or the guy on the Lucky Charms box. What you see is what you get. How rare is that anymore?

As I am still pounding away on book #2, I have learned an invaluable recurring lesson about success in life and business: be very clear about who you are, where you are going, and what you want out of the deal. The chapters in which I know exactly what points I want to drive home and what stories I will use to reinforce the message virtually write themselves. My vague moments have been treacherous, to the tune of taking over an hour to manufacture three paragraphs.

This truth has also been a recurring theme within my interpersonal and professional relationships as of late. Those in which we are both clear about the value we bring to each others lives run smoothly. In instances where there were unspoken expectations or a lack of communication, we had some hiccups.

This 5 Minute Motivator is dedicated to CLARITY. Everyone wants it; most of us don't have it. You can change this by asking yourself three simple questions about the people you interact with on a social and professional basis:

1. What benefits do you bring to my life?
2. How do you fit in my future?
3. Do you value me enough to deem me irreplaceable?

These are some very real questions! Ask these questions about those with whom you interact the most. The answers (or inability to answer) will give you clarity about who they are to you and how much time you should devote to that relationship.

Additionally, you need to turn the mirror on yourself and ask the same three questions about your value in their life. It's a two-way street, my friend.

I have a lot to say about this topic, and it's all going in this book. For now, here are a couple articles on this topic that have recently run in major media outlets. It will be very exciting to hear your thoughts on it.

Let's finish this year strong!

The Journey (NEW POEM!!!!)

The Journey

If you don’t hear anything I say today, hear this.
A journey is not easy.
There is no such thing as yellow brick road.
There is no GPS that will lead you to happiness.
There is no one walking up and down the street selling sugar cubes of success to make you healthy and wealthy at the same time.
Everything and I mean EVERYTHING takes at least 3 things.
Work, Sacrifice, and Time
Which only equals up to a thing called a journey.
It takes time because you have to take it one step at a time.
Because when you run you miss the blessing that God has for you on the side of the road.
It takes sacrifice because it’s an old saying give a little to get a lot.
And work, now that’s self explanatory you must work for everything, nothing in this life is free
Except air, and soon they will make you put that in your momma name.
God has given each and every one of you your own internal GPS.
They call it the heart.
Follow it, follow it with every breath you take.
No it won’t be easy and the roads aren’t always paved nicely but who cares.
Go.
A Journey is not easy but you realize that it MUST be done.
So have faith in God and most importantly have faith in yourself.
A journey is not easy.
But with a little work time and sacrifice you will come out victories.

New Top of My Lungs Stuff!!!!!!

I love alcohol,
I love it so much, the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning
After I thank God is take a shot.
After I go to the bathroom and look in the mirror and see how good I look.
I take another shot.
I love alcohol.
I love it so much I use Jack Daniels as mouth wash, and everclear as drinking water.
Don’t get me wrong I am on no way shape or form an alcoholic, because I do all my serious drinking before 3 and happy doesn’t start till 5.
So technology I am an over achievement.
Let my momma tell it I love alcohol more than I do her.
But that’s not what we talking about right now.
I love alcohol.

(This is the first poem i'll do in character)

Sha Stimuli – Overtime: My Soul to Keep (Mixtape)

Back in October of 2009, Sha Stimuli released what would quickly become my favorite album of the year in My Soul to Keep. While the album has received great praise, it’s still evident that there are far too many folks sleeping. So the Brooklyn native linked up with the dopehouse to present the Overtime mixtape. With DJ Slimm on the mix, Sha puts in extra work over some of the albums most noted tracks.
